AABNet aims to provide leadership in education innovation and progress by influencing curricula in animal breeding and related areas across higher education. Interventions include supporting scientific programmes aimed at livestock improvement and facilitating relationships between animal breeding scientists, government, and industry. AABNet also promotes online training courses in Africa held by expert academics and its members. Additional interventions include seminars and workshops to inform entrepreneurs about opportunities in the value chain afforded by genetic improvement of livestock. Technology incubation and mentoring of entrepreneurs for start-up ventures in the animal breeding industry are supported through mentorship, visits, placements, internships, and the creation of linkages with similar businesses and initiatives outside Africa.
