It also facilitates continuous professional capacity strengthening through refreshing and retooling of existing professionals, and to support context relevant curricular in universities. Target groups include academics and researchers (in Quantitative Genetics, Animal Breeding, Bioinformatics, Genomics, Data Science, Animal Performance Recording/Phenotyping, Reproductive Technologies, Animal Biotechnology, and related areas), farmers and livestock development and advisory services experts.

Owing to current livestock development challenges, a very careful consideration is being given to making the case for investments and other support to ensure profitable, productive and resilient production systems in Africa that favor most segments of livestock producers. AABNet is to build and make available relevant expertise to support the development of business cases for livestock improvement; and leverage credible data and communication to enable governments, development partners, farmers and other stakeholders to demonstrate the benefit and compelling need to invest.
